Short answer: Indian payment gateways normally settle money to your bank one or two working days after the payment: T+2 working days on Razorpay, Cashfree and PayU, and T+1 working days on Easebuzz. Razorpay, Cashfree and PayU also offer faster settlement for a fee. Only Cashfree publishes a figure: “starts at 0.30%”, which varies with the type of settlement and a risk assessment of your business. Razorpay shows its instant-settlement fee only inside the dashboard, and PayU says it “may have a nominal fee based on your business profile”. Before you switch it on, ask for the exact fee in writing and work out what it costs on your monthly collections.

Payment success is not the same as settlement
When a customer pays you by UPI or card, the payment can show as successful within seconds. The money reaches your bank later, when the gateway settles it:
- T+1 or T+2: the money arrives one or two working days after the transaction day (“T”).
- Same-day settlement: money from the day’s payments arrives the same day, in batches.
- Instant settlement: you withdraw your available balance whenever you need it, for a fee.
A gateway can still hold a payment before settlement, for example during a risk review. Faster settlement does not change that.
What each gateway discloses
| Gateway | Standard settlement | Faster settlement offered | Fee disclosed publicly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Razorpay | T+2 working days (domestic); T+7 (international) | Instant Settlements: withdraw your available balance “instantly, 24×7” | No. Shown in the dashboard as “fees + tax” before you confirm |
| Cashfree | “Typical settlements are processed on T+2* working days” | Settlements “multiple times a day, starting from intervals of 15 minutes, even on bank holidays”; same-day settlements | From 0.30%, varies by settlement type and risk assessment; no setup or maintenance fee |
| PayU | “Standard settlement is T+2” | “Same-day and Priority Settlements are available based on business categories” | No. “May have a nominal fee based on your business profile” |
| Easebuzz | “T+1 working days for all payment modes” | Not described on the pricing page | No |

Razorpay Instant Settlements: the terms
Razorpay’s documentation says:
- You can settle your full available balance or part of it, 24×7.
- A daily withdrawable limit applies, and the feature must be activated on your account.
- International payments cannot be settled instantly.
- Each IMPS credit can be up to ₹5 lakh. For larger amounts, Razorpay points to Smart Settlements over RTGS (up to ₹50 crore).
- The fee is shown in the dashboard as “fees + tax” before you confirm a payout.
Cashfree: the only published figure
Cashfree’s Instant Settlements page says the fee “starts at 0.30%” and “might vary based on the type of Instant Settlements chosen and the risk assessment of your business”. Treat 0.30% as the lowest possible rate, not a flat price. Cashfree also says there is no setup or maintenance fee for the feature.
What 0.30% would cost: a worked example
Say your shop collects ₹50,000 a day on 25 days a month, which is ₹12.5 lakh a month. If you settled all of it instantly at Cashfree’s starting rate of 0.30% (source, checked 21 Oct 2026):
- Per month: ₹12,50,000 × 0.30% = ₹3,750
- Per year: ₹3,750 × 12 = ₹45,000
This is the lowest case. Your rate may be higher after Cashfree’s risk assessment, and tax may be added; check the final rate and tax on your agreement. Settling only part of your collections early costs proportionally less: for example, ₹3 lakh a month at 0.30% is ₹900.
The question to ask: is getting money one or two days sooner worth this amount? For a shop that pays suppliers daily, it may be. For a business with a steady cash buffer, usually not.
Questions to ask before you switch it on
Because most fees are not published, get these answers in writing:
- What exactly is the fee: a percentage of each payout, a fixed charge per payout, or both?
- Is tax added to the fee, and will the fee appear on a GST invoice?
- Is my account eligible, and what do you need from me to activate it?
- Is there a daily limit on instant payouts, and does it change over time?
- Does it work on Sundays and bank holidays?
- Do UPI, card and net banking payments all qualify?
- Can I settle only part of my balance early, to keep the fee down?
Choose…
- Standard settlement if you can wait one or two working days. It costs nothing extra.
- Cashfree if you want a published starting rate and settlements several times a day, including bank holidays.
- Razorpay if you already use it and want to withdraw your balance on demand; check the fee in your dashboard first.
- PayU if you already use it and your business category qualifies for same-day or priority settlement; ask for the fee.
- Easebuzz if next-working-day settlement (T+1) as standard is enough for you.

What users commonly report
Based on public reviews (paraphrased, summarised 21 Oct 2026). Review samples are small for several of these products, so treat these as common themes, not ratings.
- Razorpay: users commonly report easy integration with websites, Shopify and apps, a wide choice of payment methods, and smooth routine settlements for established accounts. The most repeated complaint is settlements being held, or accounts restricted, after a risk or compliance review, sometimes soon after going live, with vague reasons and repeated document requests. Users also report slow, templated support during these disputes.
- Cashfree: users commonly report many payment and payout features in one dashboard, and smooth day-to-day collections once the account is active. Common complaints are slow account activation or rejected applications, settlements held during reviews with changing document requests, and support that is hard to reach. Some users report sudden account deactivation or an unexpected yearly maintenance charge.
- PayU: users commonly report a broad set of payment methods and a checkout that works well on Indian mobile connections. Merchants commonly report settlements held for long periods with requests for invoices and proof of delivery, onboarding that stalls despite submitted documents, and support tickets closed without a real fix.
- Easebuzz: users commonly report quick payment processing, an easy dashboard and simple account setup. Some users report occasional settlement delays around bank holidays, slow support at busy times, and fees that feel high for some payment methods.
What this means for you: across all four gateways, the most common complaints are settlement holds and slow support during reviews. Faster settlement only helps if your account is not on hold. Keep your KYC documents complete, read each gateway’s terms on holds and reserves, and keep a cash buffer for the first months on any new gateway.
