Ten websites for ₹199 a month sounds like a lot of hosting. Look closer: those ten sites share 10 GB of NVMe storage, the ₹199 price needs a 36-month term, and Starter renews at ₹349 a month before GST.
So I’d treat Bluehost Starter as a good home for a few small WordPress sites, not ten busy ones. If your site brings in leads or sales, look at Business instead. It has 50 GB, phone support and a firewall layer, at ₹279 a month to start and ₹529 on renewal.
Bluehost’s full bill, beyond the ₹199
- Starter is ₹199 a month only on a 36-month term and renews at ₹349 a month. Business is ₹279, renewing at ₹529. GST is extra on all of these.
- Starter’s ten websites share 10 GB of storage. Ten small brochure sites may fit; ten image-heavy blogs will not. Bluehost suggests about 40,000 visits a month for Starter, which is its own guidance, not a guarantee.
- Starter support is 24/7 chat. Phone support, 50 GB and the firewall and DDoS layer come with Business.
- The free domain is free for the first year only. After that it renews at Bluehost’s then-current rate, and with an Indian card or UPI you renew it by hand: Bluehost cannot store Indian payment methods for auto-renewal.
- Pro Email is a one-month free trial. Unless you cancel before renewal, it auto-renews at ₹238 a month.
- You can cancel within 30 days for a full refund on hosting. Domains and most add-ons are not refunded, and if your plan came with the free domain, a domain fee at the regular price is deducted. After 30 days there is no refund.
- Use those 30 days properly: move a real copy of your site, and ask support a real migration or DNS question.
- Weekly backups are listed. Keep your own copy outside the hosting account too.
- A newly registered domain cannot be moved to another registrar for its first 60 days.

Starter is generous in one dimension, tight in another
Ten websites at ₹199 per month looks unusually generous until storage is considered. The 10 GB pool is shared across those sites, databases, email-related files where applicable and media. Ten compact brochure sites may fit; ten image-heavy blogs are a different proposition. Judge the allocation, not merely the number of installations.
Bluehost labels Starter suitable for roughly 40,000 visits per month. Treat this as provider guidance, not a guaranteed traffic threshold. WordPress efficiency, caching and concurrent demand affect real capacity.
Business is the more complete safety baseline
Business raises the published allocation to 50 sites and 50 GB NVMe and is positioned around higher traffic. It also adds phone support, web-application firewall and DDoS features on the comparison page. For a revenue-producing site, the question is whether those operational protections justify the renewal rate, not whether the introductory difference appears small.
Weekly backups are useful, but a business should also keep an independent backup outside the hosting account. Staging is valuable for testing plugin and theme updates before they reach customers.
WordPress workflow and support
The official plan page lists managed WordPress updates, AI-assisted site creation, a CDN, SSL, staging, SSH and WP-CLI. That mix works for a beginner who wants guardrails and for a developer who needs basic command-line access. It does not remove responsibility for plugin choices, content quality or security hygiene.
Starter includes 24/7 chat but not the phone support shown on Business. If phone escalation is important, compare the correct tier. During the refund period, ask a real migration or DNS question and judge the clarity of the answer.
What three years and the renewal actually cost
The monthly figure is a sales device. Bluehost takes the whole 36 months up front, so the useful numbers are the checkout total and the renewal total. On 30 October 2026 the Bluehost India web hosting page listed the same prices it showed in September. Here is the arithmetic before GST:

The renewal is about 75% more for Starter and nearly double for Business. Budget for the renewal when you sign up, not when the reminder arrives. If you add Pro Email after its trial, that is another ₹238 a month, or ₹2,856 a year before tax, so a separate mail provider may cost less.
The third plan: eCommerce Essentials
Most India reviews stop at Starter and Business, but the Bluehost India web hosting page (seen 30 October 2026) lists a third shared tier. eCommerce Essentials is ₹649 a month on 36 months and renews at ₹1,299, before GST. It lists 100 websites, 100 GB NVMe, about 4,00,000 visits a month as Bluehost’s own guidance, WooCommerce installed for you, and phone support.
The same page says its commerce setup includes PayPal, Stripe and Razorpay. For an Indian shop, Razorpay is the one you will actually use. Still, ₹23,364 up front for a single small WooCommerce store is a lot. I would start a store on Business, add WooCommerce and Razorpay myself, and move up only when product images or order volume push against 50 GB or the CPU limits.
Paying from India: UPI, cards and manual renewal
This is the part that catches Indian customers. Bluehost’s accepted payment types help page says rupee payments go through PayU, which takes cards, UPI (for carts up to ₹1,00,000) and net banking. PayPal is not offered for rupee payments, and the cart limit is ₹2,50,000.
The same page says Indian payment methods cannot be stored, so automatic renewal does not happen. You renew by hand in the Renewal Center. If nobody does, the hosting lapses at the end of the term and the site and mail go with it. On client sites I put two calendar reminders, 30 days and 7 days before expiry, and note the domain expiry separately because it often falls on a different date. A 36-month Business renewal is ₹19,044 before GST, which fits under the UPI limit; eCommerce Essentials at ₹46,764 does too, but bundle several renewals into one cart and you can cross it.
Where your site actually runs
The India web hosting page says Bluehost has data centres in North America, South America, Europe and Asia, and that you select one at checkout. It does not name an Indian city for shared hosting. Choose the Asia option if your visitors are mostly in India, then check what you got: resolve your domain with dig +short yourdomain.in, look up the IP’s location, and run a traceroute from an Indian connection. If latency from Mumbai or Delhi is poor, put a CDN in front before you blame WordPress. One India comparison reports a Mumbai location for Bluehost managed VPS since September 2026; I could not confirm that on Bluehost’s own pages, and it would not apply to shared plans anyway.
Small print I check before recommending it
- The free domain needs a 12- or 36-month term, has to be claimed within 90 days, and then renews at the normal domain price. Paying with an Indian card or UPI, you renew it yourself (see the payment section above).
- The uptime promise pays a credit, not cash. The page describes a single credit of 5% of that month’s hosting fee, which you must claim within 30 days. That is a refund of roughly ₹10 to ₹26 a month, so it should not drive the decision.
- Backups are weekly. For a site that takes orders or enquiries daily, I add a plugin backup to separate storage on day one.
- Support on Starter is chat only; phone support starts at Business.
Weak spots, and how to leave cleanly
The disadvantages are mostly in the small print rather than the server. Starter shares 10 GB across ten sites, backups are weekly, phone support starts at Business, renewal is roughly 75% to 100% higher, and with Indian payment methods you have to remember to renew. None of that is a reason to avoid Bluehost, but each one costs time if you find it late. Bluehost belongs to Newfold Digital, which also owns HostGator, per Newfold’s own announcement.
To cancel, Bluehost’s cancellation help page gives two routes: switch off renewal in the Renewal Center so the plan ends on its expiry date, or contact support by chat or phone to cancel. Inside the first 30 days, contact support for the money-back refund. Before either, take a full backup of files and database, because the data is deleted once the service ends. Domains are cancelled separately, as the cancellation charges page explains, so move or renew the domain before you let the hosting lapse.
Should an Indian buyer choose Bluehost?
Choose Bluehost Starter when you need several small WordPress installations, can prepay three years and accept chat-first support. Choose Business when the site earns leads or sales and the extra storage, security layer and phone channel are worthwhile. Hostinger generally presents the lower entry bill, while Cloudways offers more infrastructure control and shorter billing flexibility.
The right comparison uses the same term and includes GST, renewal, domain renewal and any paid backup or email add-on. We would not switch a stable site solely to capture a first-term discount.
